Dollar mostly up, gold down in afternoon trading

The U.S. dollar was mostly up against other major currencies in European trading Monday. Gold fell.

The euro traded at $1.3346, down from $1.3503 Friday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

_88.94 Japanese yen, down from 90.27

_1.1140 Swiss francs, up from 1.1072

_1.2104 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1913

The British pound was quoted at $1.4833, down from $1.5258

Gold traded in London at $827.00 per troy ounce, down from $847.25 late Friday.
